Today we were back at LPCH to discuss the results from yesterday’s scan and plan from here on out.

The tumor is measuring the same size as the last imaging, which was taken before the two cycles of chemo she completed. It is measuring 5.4 x 4.0 x 5.6 cm.

So this means more chemo, and we start Monday for cycle 3. After the next two cycles of chemo they will do another MRI and MIBG scan to measure the mass.

The mass needs to shrink around 90% for the Doctors to feel that the chemo has been effective.

 

  
 
 

The last 2 weeks have been pretty “normal” aside from the home nurse coming twice a week to take blood and do dressing changes. Also last Friday Reba needed a blood transfusion as her hemoglobin dropped to 6.7, so we had an extra trip to LPCH.

Today 3/30/16 Reba had an MRI to measure the current size of the tumor. Tomorrow we go back for the review of scans, and our Doctors will let us know the plan from here. Please keep your fingers crossed for good news. 

  

  

 

Chemo Day 5, done! What a relief to know we don’t have to be back till Monday! 

Everything went smoothly today with the chemo. Zoe came too!

   
  

  

 

Done with Chemo, day 4. Back at it 7:30 am tomorrow for our last chemo day. Neulasta injection on Monday.

Looking ahead, the last week of March Reba has an MRI to check the tumor size. Hopefully it has responded well to the chemo!!

  

Today March 17th we finished day 3 of cycle 2. All went well and as planned/scheduled. One hour of pre-hydration followed by the two chemo infusions and two hours of post-hydration.

   
   

Today March 16, went as planned!

1 hour of pre-hydration, followed by the two chemo infusions, Cyclophosphamide and Topetecan. Then two hours of post-hydration.

Reba is handling the chemo fine and Zoe came with us today so it was extra fun!

 

  

  

  

 

We are heading home after 33 1/2 hours of being admitted at the hospital!

After getting continuous fluids all night and day, Reba’s appetite has returned and is no longer vomiting.

She received chemo today- the Cyclophosphamide and Topetecan.

We will be going back tomorrow thru Saturday to complete cycle 2, and Monday for the Neulasta injection.

 

  

  

  

 

Well we were all ready to start chemo today, except last night from 5 pm on, Reba became very ill, vomiting all night and extremely uncomfortable. 

This morning at 8 am we were admitted to Standford ER and we are staying the night here at 1 North at LPCH. 

What a day! Reba had an ultrasound on her abdomen, X-rays of her abdomen and PICC line, and a CT scan of her head (just in case! Worried us parents to death!!) All tests came back perfect which is such an incredible relief.

It is seeming like she just has a stomach bug, or maybe stomach infection/virus. After getting fluids through IV all day, Reba is already perking back up! She hasn’t vomited in 5 hours (knock on wood!). If she continues to do better, she most likely will start chemo tomorrow through Saturday and receive Neulasta next Monday. It would be nice to give her body longer to recover from such a horrible violent night of sickness but it is important to stay on track with the chemo timeline. 

   

 

We made it through the past two weeks without fevers, yay!! 

Today 3/10 we were back at LPCH to check Reba’s levels in her blood and urine and she is clear to start the next round of chemo on Monday. It will be another 6 days in a row. After his next cycle they will do an MRI to measure the tumor and from there determine the next step. 

Zoe came with us today, which always makes it better.

 

  

  

  

 

Done!

Today Reba got her neulasta injection which will help promote the growth of new healthy white blood cells!

So now we wait for the chemo to do its job and then we will start the 2nd cycle in 2 weeks. In the meantime the home nurse will come twice a week to check her blood. 

Zoe and Mimi came with us today and then we played at the park- so fun!
