Chemotherapy Second Cycle

Today we are here at LPCH Bass Center for a long day of Chemo.

Monday (5/4) Reba got an albumin infusion because she was at 1.6 g/dL (normal is 3-5). Dr. Mavers felt she needed it before starting the second cycle of chemo.

Tuesday, one of our home nurses, Lauren came and checked her albumin level through a blood test- it came back at 2.1 and our Doctor thought that was a safe level to go ahead and start cycle 2.

So here we are. Right now Reba is getting the first chemo drug, Carboplatin. The second drug is Cyclophosphamide. And the third is Doxorubicin. They gave her two hours of IV fluid before starting, and she will get three hours of hydration after.

Tomorrow we will come back for her Neulasta injection- the wonderful injection that promotes WBCs to grow.

After this cycle is over we will be halfway done with treatment!! (So long that she only needs four cycles.)

Reba is starting to lose her hair. We knew this would happen, but it’s still sad. We are grateful that she isn’t a 16 year old who would really be upset. Reba doesn’t seem to mind one bit.

Thank you so much to everyone reading this blog, and supporting us. It really carries us and means the world to us.
